“ When out cycling I usually look for quaint cafes to stop for a coffee and a cake, but on this occasion, I met my family and sat with an amazing view of the Abbey while we enjoyed some of the most amazing cakes I've had in a while along with a very nice coffee. I had a honeycomb brownie and took a salted caramel flapjack with me for my ride, which was one of the best flapjacks I've ever had! ”
“ We had a caverey on Sunday 27 th July 2025. The food was outstanding and the staff were very helpful and professional. In fact over the years . On every occasion we have visited. I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with the food at Buckfast Abbey. ”

I was delighted to see there was a chai latte on the drinks menu and my sister in law also decided to try one, seeing they are my hot drink of choice. “ I was waiting for an event at the Abbey so had lunch at the Grange. There was a good mix of hot food options, sweet things, crisps and drinks, and I opted for a cheese & onion pasty. While it did start to split open, it was on par with the ones I get back in Cornwall, with very tasty onions too. I ate out on the terrace, which offers shelter from the sun and great views of the Abbey church and its grounds. ”

As other reviews have mentioned, the coffee is dreadful which I hope they sort out soon. Also, when the weather is bad the cold air blows through the restaurant every time the automatic doors open which spoils the mood a bit, so bring a warm jacket. ”

It's not often I can get his lordship to visit sites of a religious nature but the promise of coffee and cake and the Lord of Darkness is putty in my hands !!! Hey Mel ! 30 years of stalking him has paid off x We visited the Grange Restaurant today, his lordship well helped by Mel with the self service coffee machines, technology isn't his strong point ! I opted for him the orange and carrot cake.... wasn't a slice more like a wedge ! Bye daily MMoL wait till I tell his nurse ! My cream tea and his apprentice the Prince of Chaos a Wimbledon flapjack. All cakes well past the very good score. We sat out on the very nice balcony area in the sunshine with the Abbey views towering above. His lordship and Mel shared their football moment, many years since we visited their ground ! For us the grange was excellent start to the day, excellent value for money and good quality cakes. The attentive nature of the team made for a good visit. No issues with giving 5 stars for the grange. Mel..... his lordship said one day he will be back in the away fans section..... not before a stop to the grange first x ”
